The Escaflowne movie is pure eye candy. The subs were too big (I tried adjusting it,
they weren't being cooperative). The subs shouldn't have taken so much of the screen
space. I learned my lesson, do not save data files in same folder as program. Also
mastery of Japanese (or substitution of Japanese) really isn't necessary. You might not
understand why Folken wants to destroy the world, but you can probably fill in the
blanks with any plausible story line and it would seem as good (if not better) than the
actual. Normally with R2s I use the laptop because it's more portable, but Apple DVD
image quality sucks ass. Didn't help either that Mac OS X didn't support DVD playback
via TV. Also Escaflowne was meant to be heard with the DTS soundtrack.

It's a little gem of a series. The animation style reminds me of Miyazaki, but the
direction the series takes is very non-Miyazaki. I sit thought it and wait for the
ubiquitous Miyazaki-esqe cute things to appear, and instead you get is misery, death,
destruction, chaos, and desperation. Just goes to show you don't need over the top CGI
to make a series watchable.

Leanord- after your last scenario, I'm not sure I want to know. But hey, I'll try
anything once.
For what Suncoast charges for DVDs, you can do a lot. It still has a larger collection
of Anime than any retail store I've seen, and the people who work in the Willow Lawn
store are good people who understand (or at least are willing to enable) my anime
addiction. It's not like I actually save money by purchasing elsewhere, I just buy more
anime. Any place that doesn't hide anime next to the kiddies and special interest
section is a decent place, and when 15% of your shelf space is anime, it's definably
decent. If they had bestbuy prices and took more preorders of stuff I'd buy more stuff
there.
But hey, they are cheaper than R2s.
